History of Keurig Dr Pepper
Keurig Dr Pepper is an American beverage company formed in 2018 through the merger of Keurig Green
Mountain and Dr Pepper Snapple Group. The merger combined Keurig’s strength in coffee brewing
systems with Dr Pepper Snapple’s wide portfolio of soft drinks, juices, and flavored waters. This
partnership created one of the largest beverage companies in North America, with a diverse range of
hot and cold drinks.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s origins date back to the 19th century when
Dr
Pepper was first created in Waco, Texas, in the 1880s. Over time, the brand grew into a major player
in the soft drink market, with popular beverages such as 7UP, Snapple, and A&W. The company became
well known for its innovation in flavors and its focus on non-cola drinks, which helped it stand out
from competitors like Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
Keurig Green Mountain, on the other hand,
started in
the 1990s as a coffee company known for revolutionizing the coffee industry with single-serve pods
and brewing machines. Its success with Keurig coffee makers made it a household name. When the two
companies merged, they combined Keurig’s technology and coffee expertise with Dr Pepper Snapple’s
strong distribution and brand power, allowing the new company to serve a wider market with both hot
and cold beverages.
