History of Snapple
Snapple was originally an independent beverage company founded in the 1970s, known for its flavored
teas and juices. In 2000, Snapple was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes, which later spun off its
beverage division in 2008 to form the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. This move brought together several
iconic brands like Dr Pepper, 7UP, Canada Dry, and Snapple under one company, strengthening its
presence in the American beverage market.
In 2018, Keurig Green Mountain, a leading coffee
company known for its single-serve brewing systems, merged with the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. This
$18.7 billion merger created Keurig Dr Pepper, one of North America’s largest beverage companies.
The goal of the merger was to combine Keurig’s strong distribution network and innovation in coffee
with Dr Pepper Snapple’s extensive portfolio of cold beverages.
Since the merger, Snapple has
remained a key part of Keurig Dr Pepper’s product lineup. The company has focused on refreshing
Snapple’s image with updated packaging, new flavors, and sustainability efforts like using 100
percent recycled plastic bottles. Snapple continues to be marketed as a fun, flavorful, and natural
beverage brand, maintaining its long-standing popularity among consumers while benefiting from the
broader resources and global reach of Keurig Dr Pepper.
