History of Crush
Crush is a soft drink brand originally created in 1911 by Clayton J. Howel and Neil C. Ward, with
Orange Crush being the first flavor. It quickly became popular for its refreshing taste and bright
orange color, standing out among other sodas of its time. Over the years, Crush expanded its range
to include flavors like grape, strawberry, pineapple, and peach, becoming a staple in the
fruit-flavored soda market.
The brand changed ownership several times throughout its history.
It was once owned by Procter & Gamble and later by Cadbury Schweppes. In 2008, when Cadbury
Schweppes spun off its beverage division into a new company, Dr Pepper Snapple Group took ownership
of Crush. This marked a new era for the brand as it continued to grow under a dedicated beverage
company that managed several well-known soda labels.
In 2018, Dr Pepper Snapple Group merged
with Keurig Green Mountain to form Keurig Dr Pepper, bringing Crush under the new company’s
portfolio. Today, Crush remains a well-known soft drink in North America, recognized for its
nostalgic appeal and wide range of fruity flavors. Keurig Dr Pepper continues to distribute and
market Crush as part of its extensive lineup of beverages.
