History of Acer

Acer Inc. is a Taiwanese multinational company that specializes in computer hardware and electronics. Founded in 1976 by Stan Shih and his partners as Multitech, the company initially focused on microprocessor distribution and training. In 1987, it rebranded as Acer and expanded into the manufacturing of personal computers. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Acer became a key player in the global PC market, competing with major brands like Dell and HP.

In the 2000s, Acer diversified its product lineup, acquiring companies such as Gateway and Packard Bell to strengthen its market position. It became one of the world's largest laptop manufacturers, offering affordable and high-performance models. In recent years, Acer has expanded into gaming (with its Predator series), cloud solutions, and AI-driven innovations, maintaining a strong presence in the consumer and enterprise technology markets.
