History of Wilson

Wilson Sporting Goods, founded in 1913 as the Ashland Manufacturing Company in Chicago, originally focused on processing animal by-products into surgical sutures, tennis racket strings, and violin strings. The company eventually shifted its focus to sports equipment and was renamed Wilson & Co. under the leadership of Thomas E. Wilson in 1915. Wilson's vision transformed the business into a major player in the sporting goods industry by expanding its product line to include baseball gloves, footballs, and tennis rackets.

Throughout the 20th century, Wilson became a trusted name in sports, establishing itself through partnerships with professional athletes and leagues. It became the official supplier of balls for the NFL, NCAA, and various other organizations. Wilson also played a key role in advancing tennis, baseball, and golf equipment. Today, the company continues to innovate in athletic gear, combining tradition with modern technology, and remains a prominent brand recognized around the world.
