History of Achva

Achva was established in 1929 in Tel Aviv, making it one of the pioneering food manufacturers in Israel with a focus on sesame-based products. The company began during the early years of modern Israel's development and has since built its reputation around traditional Mediterranean products, particularly tahini and halva. With over 90 years of experience in manufacturing sesame-based products, Achva has developed unique technologies and methods for creating both delicacies and healthy products, working closely with farmers from the early stages of cultivation through to the final premium tahini production.

Throughout its nearly century-long history, Achva has grown from a local Tel Aviv operation into one of Israel's leading food manufacturers. The company has perfected its craft by escorting farmers from sowing through harvesting, ensuring quality control from farm to finished product. The company has significantly expanded its production capabilities, now able to produce up to 4 tons of tahini per hour, reflecting its growth and technological advancement over the decades.

Today, Achva holds a dominant position in the Israeli market and has successfully expanded internationally. In 2022, the company held a 36% market share in tahini, 56% in halva, and 26% in cakes within the Israeli market. About 20% of the company's products are intended for export and sold in Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, the CIS countries, Western Europe, and Central and North America, demonstrating how this family business that started in 1929 has become a global brand while maintaining its commitment to traditional sesame-based products.
