History of Lush Cosmetics

Lush Cosmetics was founded in 1995 in Poole, England, by Mark Constantine, Mo Constantine, and a team of like-minded individuals passionate about fresh, handmade beauty products. The company’s roots trace back to the 1970s when Mark Constantine, a trichologist, and his wife Mo began creating natural hair and skincare products. They initially supplied their formulations to The Body Shop before launching their own brand. Lush quickly gained popularity for its commitment to ethical sourcing, cruelty-free practices, and innovative, environmentally friendly products, such as bath bombs, solid shampoos, and naked (packaging-free) cosmetics.

Over the years, Lush has expanded globally while maintaining its core values of sustainability and activism. The company is known for supporting various social and environmental causes, including animal rights, ethical buying, and reducing waste through initiatives like their '5 Pot Program' and in-store recycling efforts. Despite its growth, Lush continues to prioritize handmade products, natural ingredients, and a transparent supply chain, making it a leader in ethical beauty.
