History of Honeywell
Honeywell traces its origins back to 1885 when Albert Butz invented the damper flapper, an early thermostat system, and founded the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Company. This company later evolved into the Minneapolis Heat Regulator Company. In 1927, it merged with Honeywell Heating Specialty Company, founded by Mark Honeywell in 1906, to form the Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company. This merger laid the foundation for Honeywell’s expansion into heating, ventilation, and control systems.
Over the decades, Honeywell grew into a global technology leader, diversifying into aerospace, automation, and safety solutions. In 1999, it merged with AlliedSignal, a major industrial and aerospace firm, adopting the Honeywell name. Today, Honeywell is known for its innovations in smart building technologies, industrial automation, and advanced materials, playing a crucial role in industries like aviation, energy, and security.
