History of Wayfair

Wayfair was founded in 2002 by Niraj Shah and Steve Conine as CSN Stores, an online retailer selling storage furniture and home goods. Over time, the company expanded its product range, adding furniture, décor, and household items. By 2011, CSN Stores rebranded as Wayfair, consolidating its numerous niche retail sites into a single, cohesive brand. The company quickly became one of the largest online destinations for home furnishings, offering millions of products from thousands of suppliers.

In 2014, Wayfair went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker W. The company continued to grow, expanding internationally and launching its own exclusive brands. Despite facing profitability challenges, Wayfair remained a dominant player in the online furniture market, leveraging technology and data-driven strategies to enhance customer experience. Today, it remains a leading e-commerce platform for home goods, competing with major retailers like Amazon and Walmart.
