History of Essity

Essity is a global hygiene and health company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. It was originally part of SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget), a Swedish forest and hygiene company founded in 1929. In 2017, SCA split into two separate companies: one focusing on forestry (which retained the SCA name) and the other specializing in hygiene and health products, which became Essity. The name 'Essity' is derived from 'essentials' and 'necessities,' reflecting the company's commitment to providing essential hygiene and health solutions.

Since its formation, Essity has expanded through acquisitions and innovation, becoming a leading provider of personal care, consumer tissue, and professional hygiene products. The company owns well-known brands such as TENA, Libero, Libresse, and Lotus. With operations in over 150 countries, Essity focuses on sustainability, developing eco-friendly products and reducing its environmental impact. It continues to invest in digital health solutions and partnerships to improve global hygiene and well-being.
