History of Microsoft Windows
Microsoft Windows was first introduced in 1985 as a graphical user interface (GUI) for the MS-DOS
operating system. The first version, Windows 1.0, allowed users to perform basic tasks like word
processing and drawing using a mouse. Over time, Windows evolved with better graphics, multitasking
features, and support for more hardware. In 1995, Windows 95 became a major milestone, introducing
the Start menu and taskbar, setting the standard for future Windows versions.
During the 2000s,
Microsoft released Windows XP, one of its most popular versions, known for its improved stability
and user-friendly interface. Later versions like Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 introduced new designs
and enhanced security features. Today, Windows 11 continues this legacy, focusing on a modern look,
performance, and better integration with cloud and touch-based devices. Throughout its history,
Windows has remained the dominant operating system for personal computers worldwide.
