History of Voodoo Doughnut

Voodoo Doughnut was founded in 2003 by Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon in Portland, Oregon. The duo wanted to create a unique doughnut shop that blended delicious treats with a quirky, offbeat atmosphere. Their original downtown Portland location quickly became a cult favorite, attracting locals and tourists with its unusual flavors, eccentric décor, and signature pink boxes. Among their most famous creations are the Bacon Maple Bar and the Voodoo Doll doughnut, filled with raspberry jelly and topped with a pretzel stake.

Over the years, Voodoo Doughnut expanded beyond Portland, opening locations in cities like Denver, Austin, and Los Angeles. Their reputation grew through word-of-mouth, media features, and celebrity endorsements, solidifying them as an iconic part of Portland’s food culture. Despite their growth, the company has maintained its independent and unconventional spirit, offering unique wedding ceremonies, exclusive merchandise, and ever-changing limited-edition doughnuts.
