History of Church’s Chicken

Church’s Chicken was founded in 1952 by George W. Church Sr. in San Antonio, Texas. Originally named 'Church’s Fried Chicken To Go,' the restaurant started as a small takeout stand near the Alamo, specializing in fried chicken and offering a simple menu at affordable prices. The business quickly gained popularity for its flavorful, crispy chicken and expanded across Texas and beyond.

By the 1970s, Church’s Chicken had grown into a national brand, competing with other major fast-food chains. It later expanded internationally, reaching markets in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Despite ownership changes over the years, the brand remains known for its signature fried chicken, honey butter biscuits, and Southern-style sides. Today, Church’s Chicken continues to be a staple in the fast-food industry, serving millions of customers worldwide.
