History of Neutrogena

Neutrogena, a renowned American skincare brand, was founded in 1930 by Emanuel Stolaroff. Initially named Natone, the company started as a small cosmetics firm supplying products to beauty salons and film studios in Hollywood. The breakthrough moment for Neutrogena came in the 1950s when Stolaroff discovered a unique, clear soap during a trip to Europe. This soap, which was exceptionally gentle and non-alkaline, was developed by Belgian chemist Edmond Fromont. Impressed by its quality, Stolaroff secured the rights to distribute the soap in the United States, branding it as 'Neutrogena.'

In 1962, Natone was officially rebranded as Neutrogena Corporation. The brand rapidly gained popularity due to its focus on mild and dermatologist-recommended skincare products. By the 1970s, Neutrogena had established itself as a trusted name in skincare, expanding its product line to include shampoos, moisturizers, and sunscreens.
