History of Fendi
Fendi was founded in 1925 in Rome as a small boutique specializing in fur and leather goods. Over the
years, it became known for its high-quality craftsmanship and elegant Italian style. In 1965, Karl
Lagerfeld joined Fendi as creative director, marking a major turning point for the brand. Under his
leadership, Fendi gained international fame for its bold creativity, innovative use of materials,
and iconic designs, including the famous “Baguette” handbag introduced in the late 1990s.
In
1999, Fendi became part of the LVMH Group, one of the world’s leading luxury conglomerates. This
partnership helped expand the brand’s global presence while preserving its Italian roots. Today,
under the creative direction of Silvia Venturini Fendi, the brand continues to represent
sophistication, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance, staying true to its heritage while embracing
modern luxury.
