History of Raising Cane’s

Raising Cane’s was founded in 1996 by Todd Graves in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The idea for the restaurant came from a college business plan that was initially rejected by his professors. Determined to bring his vision to life, Graves worked as a boilermaker in an oil refinery and a commercial fisherman in Alaska to save enough money. He eventually secured a loan and opened the first Raising Cane’s near Louisiana State University, focusing on a simple menu of high-quality chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and Cane’s special sauce.

The restaurant quickly gained popularity due to its fresh, made-to-order chicken and commitment to quality. Over the years, Raising Cane’s expanded across the United States and internationally, maintaining its dedication to its core menu and customer service. The brand's success is built on a strong company culture, community involvement, and a fun, energetic atmosphere. Today, Raising Cane’s continues to grow, with hundreds of locations worldwide, staying true to its original mission: serving the best chicken finger meals while keeping things simple.
