History of Parse Platform
Parse Platform is an open-source backend framework that helps developers build web, mobile, and IoT
applications faster by providing essential backend services out of the box. It was originally
created by a startup called Parse in 2011 and gained attention for simplifying backend development
with features like a database, user authentication, push notifications, and file storage.
In
2013, Parse was acquired by a major tech company, which further boosted its adoption. However, in
2017, the hosted Parse service was shut down, and the source code was released to the open-source
community. Since then, developers have continued to maintain and improve the platform, turning it
into a self-hosted and community-driven backend solution.
Today, Parse Platform remains a
popular choice for developers who want to avoid building backend infrastructure from scratch. It
supports multiple databases, GraphQL and REST APIs, and includes a web-based dashboard. It is
well-suited for startups, hobby projects, and even production apps that require scalable backend
services.
