History of Infineon

Infineon Technologies AG is a German semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Neubiberg, near Munich. It was founded in 1999 when Siemens AG spun off its semiconductor division into a separate company. Infineon quickly established itself as a leader in the industry, focusing on power semiconductors, automotive electronics, security solutions, and industrial applications. The company faced financial challenges in its early years but adapted by streamlining operations and focusing on high-growth markets like electric vehicles and renewable energy.

Over the years, Infineon expanded through strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of International Rectifier in 2015 and Cypress Semiconductor in 2020. These acquisitions strengthened its position in power electronics, microcontrollers, and connectivity solutions. Today, Infineon is one of the world's leading semiconductor companies, providing critical components for automotive, industrial, and consumer applications, driving innovation in energy efficiency, mobility, and security technologies.
