History of Hazelcast

Hazelcast was founded in 2008 with the goal of solving performance and scalability challenges in modern data systems. Initially launched as an open-source in-memory data grid (IMDG), Hazelcast allowed developers to store and manage large volumes of data directly in memory, significantly reducing latency compared to traditional disk-based databases. This made it ideal for use cases like caching, session clustering, and high-speed data sharing across distributed applications.

As demand for real-time data processing grew, Hazelcast expanded its capabilities beyond caching. It introduced stream processing features and integrated seamlessly with cloud environments, microservices, and containers. The company also released Hazelcast Jet, a high-performance stream and batch processing engine. Today, Hazelcast is used by financial institutions, e-commerce platforms, and tech companies worldwide to power applications that require real-time decision-making, high availability, and low latency at scale.
