History of Bravura Security
Bravura Security has a rich history spanning over three decades with multiple ownership changes that
shaped its evolution. Originally founded in 1992 as M-Tech Information Technology, the company began
as a provider of identity management software and services. The company operated under the M-Tech
name for sixteen years, establishing itself as a specialized identity management solutions provider
during the early days of enterprise security technology.
In 2008, the company underwent its
first major transformation when Hitachi, Ltd. acquired a majority interest in M-Tech Information
Technology. The merger, effective from April 2, 2008 saw M-Tech Information Technology renamed as
Hitachi ID Systems, a new company launched by Hitachi as a result of the acquisition. Under
Hitachi's ownership, the company continued to develop and expand its identity management
capabilities, benefiting from Hitachi's broader technology resources and global reach. Hitachi took
100% ownership interest in March 2020, further solidifying its control over the identity management
business.
The most recent chapter in the company's history began in 2022 when Volaris Group
acquired Hitachi ID Systems and rebranded it as Bravura Security. This acquisition marked another
significant transformation for the company, as Volaris Group has a long-term buy-and-hold
acquisition strategy focused on the long-term success of its portfolio companies. Today, Bravura
Security operates as a leading provider of identity, privileged access, password, and passwordless
solutions, continuing the legacy that began thirty years ago while leveraging modern security
technologies and approaches.
