History of Momondo
Momondo is a travel fare aggregator and travel search engine founded in Denmark in 2006. It was
created to help users compare prices for flights, hotels, and car rentals across multiple booking
platforms. Known for its colorful interface and easy-to-use search tools, Momondo quickly gained
popularity in Europe for offering transparent pricing and no hidden fees.
In 2011, Momondo
was
acquired by the British travel group Cheapflights Media, which later became Momondo Group. Its reach
expanded internationally, making it a recognized brand in travel comparison services. In 2017, the
Momondo Group was acquired by the Booking Holdings-owned KAYAK, further integrating its technology
and expanding its audience globally while retaining the Momondo brand identity.
