History of Texas Instruments
Texas Instruments (TI) was founded in 1930 as Geophysical Service Inc. (GSI), a company focused on seismic exploration for oil. During World War II, GSI shifted towards defense electronics, leading to the formation of Texas Instruments Incorporated in 1951. The company soon became a pioneer in semiconductor technology, developing the first commercial silicon transistor in 1954 and later inventing the integrated circuit (IC), which revolutionized the electronics industry.
Throughout the decades, TI expanded its innovations, introducing the first handheld calculator in 1967 and contributing to the advancement of digital signal processing. The company played a crucial role in semiconductor development, particularly in analog and embedded processing technologies. Today, Texas Instruments remains a global leader in semiconductors, supplying essential components for industries such as automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics.
