History of Pendo

Pendo was founded in 2013 by Todd Olson, a former executive at Rally Software, alongside his co-founders, Chris Hicken and Eric Lunt. The company was born out of the desire to help software teams better understand how users interact with their products. Pendo’s initial focus was on providing product teams with insights through in-app analytics and feedback tools to enhance product experiences.

The company quickly grew and evolved, introducing a platform that combines product analytics with user feedback and in-app messaging. This allowed businesses to not only track how users engage with their software but also to communicate directly with them to drive product adoption. Over the years, Pendo expanded its offerings to include more advanced features like user onboarding, product usage tracking, and segmentation tools, all aimed at improving the customer experience.

By 2020, Pendo had raised over $100 million in funding and attracted a wide range of clients, including large enterprises like VMware, Slack, and Zendesk. With a strong focus on user-centric product development, Pendo has become a leading platform in the product management space, helping companies deliver more intuitive, data-driven experiences. The company continues to innovate and expand its product suite to meet the evolving needs of modern product teams.
